I’ve previously been called a Renaissance man, which is a pretty cool title. I have done many different things in my life and have been blessed with a great number of opportunities. I’ve had a 30+ year career as an educator and during that time have done everything from filling in as janitor, cook, and secretary to driving the bus, coaching a variety of sports, and serving as a teacher, principal, superintendent, and finally as the Deputy State Superintendent. Along the way I had several other leadership positions in education as a representative of rural interests as well as time spent as an Activities Director. Furthermore, I’ve served as an elected School Board Trustee, was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Educational Commission of the States, and also appointed by the Governor to serve on the Montana Board of Public Education. I currently serve as the Chairman of the Board.
I also have been a reserve deputy sheriff, EMT, and a fireman. I let those other things go but still am proud to serve as a volunteer fireman in Savage, MT.
I am fascinated with learning new things and have many different degrees and certifications including a BS in math and history from MSU, a MS in math education from MSU, an MBA from UM, and a doctorate from UM. My most recent accomplishment was finishing a three-year program at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary which resulted in me becoming an ordained pastor.
Speaking of being a pastor, I have many worship settings. They include my home base of First Lutheran Church in Savage, MT as well as Grace Lutheran Church of Skaar, ND, First Congregational Church of Savage, MT, and First Lutheran Church of Lambert, MT. I also serve as chaplain at the Savage Sunrise Manor and lead worship services there and work as chaplain for the Sidney Health Center where I am specifically assigned to Extended Care.
There is much more to write but this will do for now as an introduction. I decided to establish this website as a way to have an online presence to post information, ideas, and thoughts that others might be interested in. I will also post links to my dissertation, other places my work may have been published, and may even post some of my sermons if folks are interested.
All comments and content are my own and are not reflective of any employer (prior or current) or any other group I may be associated with now or in the past or future.
